American Hiking Society

Join American Hiking Society for a week of building and maintaining trails in exciting and diverse locations across the country. Bring only your camping gear and a willingness to get dirty. We provide the rest.
Golden Gate National Recreation Area, California
Our most popular projects! Work within the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, our largest urban national park, for a series of trail enhancement projects along coastal trails. Located in San Francisco, it contains many scenic and unique places located north and south of the Golden Gate Bridge.
Buffalo National River, Arkansas
This multi-year project will build a 25-mile trail along the Buffalo River, America’s first National River. The trail passes over high bluffs providing impressive panoramic views of the river and surrounding hills. Remove debris, dig out roots, build rock steps and re-naturalize disturbed areas. Experience some of the most beautiful scenery in the Ozarks at one of the nicest times of the year.
Bob Marshall Wilderness, Montana
Backpack through the Bob Marshall Wilderness while giving back to the trails. Each year we offer several trips to this remote and rugged gem known as “The Bob” just south of Glacier National Park. Projects vary from year to year but all provide a great crew and gorgeous views.
